I have nothing against Midgets… in fact, they make pretty decent slaves.
Everything was quiet as the day began. Magnus woke early as usual to begin his chores. The Jux HQ Building was always empty in the morning, which made his work easier. He stepped out of the tiny service elevator into the lobby, dragging his mop and bucket after himself. Slavery was not such a bad life. He never had cause to question his existence. He just had but to do what told, only 8 hours a day, and his living was provided for.
The floor was sparkling by the time Ela stepped out of the meter tall elevator. Magnus watched as she strutted her way to the receptionist desk. She climbed onto the chair, which was raised to accomodate her lack of height. Magnus began on the massive windows.
Shortly after recieving this assignment, Magnus has problems with this aspect of his job. There was no way he could clean the entire height of the windows! He was ready to forfeit his life, but one of the Masters pitied him. He suggested using the mop to extend one’s reach, which of was the way Magnus had done it ever since. Having finished his morning work, Magnus approached the desk.
“Good morning Ela!”
She smiled at him. He swallowed his pride and asked.
“Listen, Ela, you want to eat dinner with me tonight?”
She tilted her head to one side as if to consider, then nodded with an even bigger smile.
“Okay, great! I’ll see you later then”
And he stepped over into the midget elevator. He was indeed happy with his life, even if it was the life of a slave.
