A scary thing happened. I was sitting here, playing Silent Hill 2. These games are CREEPY. So I’m playing the game, when suddenly, I head a loud thumping noise coming from the basement. Most of my family is gone on vacation, so what could it be? There is also a movement at the basement door, so I get up to investigate. Now, Silent Hill is a very scarey game, so naturally I am playing it in pitch black, which is kinda scarey. I get downstairs and see my pet cat Kasper walking around. The thumping was coming from DDR. My guess is that Kasper stepped on the mats on purpose to start the music and thus scare my poopless. I suppose thats what I get with a cat named after a ghost.

I’ve got more good news and bad news.

The good news: My room is 99% finished. My entertainment center, complete with TV and all my game systems, is put together, and all of my furniture is in place. I’m unpacking all my boxes of stuff. My big computer (FitzSheba) will be up by tomorrow.

What’s not finished? My phone jack doesn’t work, so I’m using dialup with a phone cord going down the stairs.

That’s right, still dialup. I’ve not checked much of anything in days because I can’t stand it. But, I guess I’m going to be reading my webcomics the old way whether I like it or not for a few days…as well as uploading features this way. Why?

…no DSL until the 9th, the phone company decided to tell us today.

Fuck them up their stupid asses.

Feature production will resume (from MacSheba!) as soon as I get the very last details of this damned move sorted out. That should be tomorrow.

Today I have a dream for you. I dreamed a dream where I was on a trip! The car drove and drove, and I visited buildings and such. It was interfaced similar to Silent Hill and was probably influenced by the introduction of such games into my system. Anyways, eventually I was in a hotel room, or some place where people sleep, and there was a little box! So I open it and there are dragon dice! This is amazing as Graeme and I and now Travis are the only people I know who have dragon dice. Time goes on and I discover I am at some sort of political convention. A democrat of some sort was being interviewed for television, and was speaking of “total annihilation.” Not the game, but of destroying every being on the planet that is non-American. I asked if he would use nuclear weapons, which I thought was a bad idea. He said yes they would. Next thing I know I am back in the room with the dragon dice, somehow sharing the room with the democrat. His daughter happened to be staying there also and was the owner of the dragon dice. Then I went to sleep and woke up. It was a weird dream, but I think it was interesting.

Greetings from MacSheba. Well, the move is going slower than expected. Our phone service just got turned on, but we haven’t picked up the DSL modem yet, nor is my phone jack in the basement connected to anything yet (all the other, power outlets and such, are working fine.) So, I found out, to my amazement, that my old free dialup internet service still worked! Just so I could update to you guys! Trying to browse the internet with this thing is too painful, and I don’t have much time, so let’s just go through what I have to tell you.

1) All of my furniture is in the basement, but my room is not quite finished yet. As such, I’m living in a guest bedroom on the second floor. It’s like my own hotel! Yay!

2) The Dish Network came yesterday and installed all the receivers and the dish or whatnot. Unfortunately, he put the DVR in the wrong room, so I spent this morning learning the ins-and-outs of satellite TV installation. I completed the surgery entirely successfully. If we hadn’t gotten free installation, I would have called them and asked for our money back.

My thoughts on satellite TV? The picture is much better than basic cable, but slightly worse than our old digital cable. This mostly comes out in compression artifacts. However, the channel lineup is better, and our local channels are actually clearer . Their DVR is much better than Adelphia’s, in both features (commercial skip forward!), menus (no weird banding!), and size (100 hours of recording time at highest quality!). Oh, and it’s free. Or at least, it’s the same price as any other reciever. Granted, Adelphia’s was only $7.00 a month…but that’s more than free, right?

3) And now the really bad news. Well, the bad news that isn’t the fact that I won’t be updating regularly until my room is finished. You see, they broke my entertainment center moving it in here. I had to go out and buy a new one. Which means I have to put it together. If anyone remembers the utter hell I went through assembling the old one (hint: check the Jux news archive for October 2002), you know that I’m not a happy camper.

Luckily, I have a girlfriend to help me this time. We’ll see if she speeds the process up.

I found some old news, but I figured it was worth a comment. The way this works is that I give you a link, you click it and read the news article, then you come back and read my comments. Or, if you are lazy, you can read my comments first then go read the article. Either way, this is the old news article on which I have something to say. Basically, I find it ridiculous that that crime can be punishable by prison time. Cell phones, PDA’s, Walkmans, and more can be considered “recording devices.” Hell, some people would say the human brain is a recording device. What about paper and pencil? This is all assuming that the law doesn’t say “video recording device” in which this is a pointless point, but it still should not be punishable by jail time. Thats all I have tonight. Meow.

No way! I can’t really think of anything cool or interesting to say. I can’t even think of anything interesting on the internet for you to look at. I have no motivation for writing this whatsoever except that Graeme said he’d be gone til wednesday and that makes me sad, but it also might make you sad if you have nothing to read here! So here is something for you to read, although it is rather boring. I’m going to look for a cool link for you to look at. A quick google search of “cool link to look at” reveals this. It seems kinda cool. Anyways, I want Graeme back.

Until Wednesday at the very earliest, this is FitzSheba…signing off.

So it’s come to this: I have to go to work, but when I come back tonight, it’s time to pack up the very last game systems (the PS2 and GCN hung on to the bitter end) as well as…brace yourself…

FitzSheba, my lovely computer that I am typing on right now.

I’ll still have my laptop, and if everything gets packed up and headed off to Jasper early enough I promise I’ll try to write a feature tonight. But that’s not very likely, because I have to clean out all of the rest of my stuff. I’m sorry. I looooooooove you guys.

Tonight, only MacSheba will be on in this house of mine. Even the router must go, so poor MacSheba will be tied to that most pedestrian of things for a laptop…a desk.

I’ve got more bad news, July style, for all of you younguns out there. Everything I own that’s still at this house is going to be moved Monday. Here’s the good news: Almost everything at the new house will be ready by then.

Here’s the bad news: no phone or internet connection of any sort until Wednesday, when the DSL is hooked up. Honestly, I’m starting to think DSL isn’t going to be that bad. Sure, I have less downstream at optimal conditions…but my bandwidth is MINE. Screw you guys, Adelphia, and your throttling ways. I can have my shoutcast again.

Besides…fiber to the premise should be here soon.

Sorry, chillun. No Juxdates for awhile. But once the move is done, I’ll have my very own writing cave !
