Yesterday was the fifth anniversary of the founding of the Jux Entente (as Totally Hat!). Five years is a long time for a website, really. I can’t believe it’s been that long since we started this whole thing. At this point Jux has become a fact of life rather than something we do; it’s something we are.

At least most of us. The Jux of 2007 is obviously very different, visually and in content, than the Jux of 2005. We’ll count the entirety of 2006 as a transitional year since it so obviously was. It’d be nice to get the best parts of old to go with the best parts of new, but that will probably never happen.

There’s a new feature coming up briefly. It’ll be another one that no one ever bothers to read.

Multitask!

This is how I’m rolling at work at this exact moment. I rarely have this much stuff open at home, and if I did, it would be only one instance of Firefox (h8 IE) and Thunderbird instead of the evil that is Lotus Notes. Still, I looked at my task bar and saw this evilness, this sheer insanity of open tasks and processes, and I knew I had to share. If you look to the far right you can see I’m running both (portable) OpenOffice.org Writer and Word 2003 and TextPad at the same time! I’m a word-processing fiend!

Alright, two items to discuss:

1.) Starting a Book Club. Go to forum for details.

2.) I vow to do a new comic each Friday- starting with next week.

2b.) When the pigs try to get at ja, park it like it’s hot…

According to Travis the Metro Brokers sign has officially crossed the 100,000 mark. I had assumed that, like most of those signs, they only had a fixed number of digit positions. I was wrong. They were able to switch to a smaller font size.

GSP….WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!??!

Okay, now that that’s out of my system: we (Brett, Duffy, Peter, Travis, me) played soccer against a bunch of hispanic kids from our complex today after playing against each other for two hours. It was the first time I’d played soccer since I was about six. I was hit in the face with a goal kick (delicious ball flavor!) and kicked in the shins. I was also mildly sunburned. Duffy cramped up so bad he had to go out. Brett took a hard goal kick to the balls. Peter took a hard goal kick to the penis. Travis did a full roll backwards after being tripped up. All of us need recovery time. Final score of our only game acting as a team: 7-10. We were the 7.

Finally: GSP noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

Well, all four of my wisdom teeth are gone now. My drugs make me a little more than…. actually I have no idea what to say about anything. I’m pretty far gone. The meds my Dr. put me on make me wobble, chill and fall asleep. In other words: ‘I’m gettin’ tore up!’

For the past year or so, I’ve couched many long term plans under the banner of “if I stay at Georgia State for my PhD.” Up until this week, I was pretty sure that my inertia would keep me there; it feels like I just go there, after all.

Something finally switched over inside of my head, though, and made me realize that I probably won’t be in Georgia by August of 2008. My mentor wants me to go to UCLA. I think my adviser wants me to go to Duke.

I have to start preparing applications this summer, most likely.
