Fall may be greatly delayed here in Georgia, but damnit, I still got myself some fresh Granny Smith apples today.

Today also marked the end of yet another great HVAC saga in my car. After taking a girl on a first date on a hot day with no A/C, driving to Athens and back with no A/C, and other fun things…I got to drive down 140 at rush hour today in blissful coolness.

Then Kenny and I got five holes into East Roswell before he threw his Starfire into the great unknown at Kudzu Corner and we had to go hunting for it. It was getting dark and hope was about to be lost, but right as Kenny jogged back to his car to get a flashlight I started shaking the shit out of all the kudzu-covered trees right at the edge of the embankments and plop, one bright pink Starfire, no longer lost. Thank god. No way in hell was a second disc going missing on my watch in as many weeks, Kenny’s or no. I wasn’t leaving until that thing was found.

I had an unplanned guest on Monday. It more or less made my week. Mostly because I don’t have to speak German anymore.

Travis also gifted me his Orange Box copies of Half-Life 2 and HL2: Episode One. I’ve played demos, death matches, and random points from Kenny’s copy of the game, but I’ve never actually played it through. I have a track record of hating first person shooters, and the HL:2 demo made me motion sick for only the second time in my entire life the first time I played it, but I’m still looking forward to poking around these games as I have a chance. I already know most of the plot, of course, but hopefully it’ll be fun anyway. I’ve done the Insertion Point or whatever at least four times now, however, so that’s going to be boring to go through yet again.

After three nights of less than four hours of sleep, my body finally got sick of me…and I just woke up. But what an extended weekend it was. Now, I just have to do actual work.

Weird ways to embarrass yourself as a male #98.657BAH: Ask “Is your microwave on a sewing machine table?”

Apparently we aren’t supposed to know what those are. Who knew? ;)

Okay, so I finally got to throw my new plastic yesterday. I love the new XS, even though I tossed it really retarded a few times getting used to it. I blame it being new, the fact I’d never played the course, and that I was practicing backhand again. Despite those problems, just like the old one when I hit it that thing would really fly. Much better for me than the TeeBird, Starfire, Beast or Flick drivers that I’ve used from the collections of others. It even set me up for a three-spot on the longest hole there. This one is also really damn easy to see.

The Wizard is a little more complex. I like the feel of it, and I like the flight path, but it’s going to take awhile to get used to. The holes at the park in Athens were different than the ones at the parks I’m used to, so I ended up using the Goblin more setting up approaches than the Wizard doing tricky putts to get used to it. Most of the times I used the Wizard were, thus, just drop-ins. I might go for some putting practice this week, before the EPIX, to work out that out.

Of course, all of this is just dancing around the fact that I spent the whole day in Athens with Laura. A prestigious occasion, marking the first time I’d ever consented to drive to Athens for anyone, ever. Rather than talk about that in detail, I’ve decided to describe what its like to drive away. The sensation reminds me of nothing so much as the week or so after Christmas. Tons of awesome things have just happened, but now it’s over and there’s nothing you can do to make it come back sooner. At least in this case it’s a week, and not a year.

With that, fish hat!

Completely drained, starving and I really need to shower, so I’ll take more later. For now, I finally feel justified in posting a picture since I actually took this one myself:
