RIP Starfire II. Perhaps I will replace you yet again someday. At least you have my number this time in case a kind soul finds you.

I’ve been having a lot of weird nightmares lately. Weird, because I’m not someone who dreams much or often. I usually ‘think’ while I sleep. But ever since getting back from Colorado or so: Bam! nightmares.

What to do about it? Nothing that I can figure out. Just one of those things I suppose.

So earlier today (yesterday by the time stamp) I stopped by Athens for a few hours to see my friend Samantha off. Perhaps you’ve heard of her? Regardless, she’s leaving Georgia for the cold depths of Michigan tomorrow and it was the last chance I was going to get to see her. Hopefully things go well for her there with her new (is he still new?) boyfriend and such.

That’s two people I care about leaving the state in the last few months. At least I don’t have the immediate urge to hop in my car and follow this time.

I’ve been thinking that it’s time to do another round of upgrades on Jux. Some ideas I’ve got:

1) Upgrading WordPress, of course.
2) Finishing that the WordPress plugin that we currently use to crosspost to phpBB 3.0. It’s not had any bugs yet, but we’ve never slicked it up for release.
3) Creating new user pages for the various authors that want one that allow them to ‘skin’ the generic Jux Entente pages. Also redirect crossedreality.juxentente.com and such to these pages.

The phrase “Somewhat Damaged” is one I have used to describe one very specific mood I sometimes get in under only slightly less specific circumstances. It all began with IRC in the late 1990s, actually. Like many things that begin in your teen years, its genesis is now slightly embarrassing. Quite simply its a reference to a Nine Inch Nails song of the same name. The lyrics are a pretty good match to the bullshit garbage my emotions throw through the cognitive portions of my brain when I’m in said mood, and so I continue to use the description even now.

The giant spider is back. I’ve killed him several times before, but I finally discovered his secret. He is a teleporter. When we first met, I captured it in an empty tennis ball canister where he lived for a few weeks despite my attempts to poison it. Hippies decided it should live and kidnapped it to set free in a dumpster. The spider returned a few weeks later whence I smashed it with my foot. This was all at least a year ago. The spider returned again tonight, waiting less than a foot from my deadlock, seeking his vengeance. So I swatted it to the ground and stomped him. This is when he pulled his trick. There was no body left on the ground, and upon thorough inspection of my shoe, no remains left there either. The only possible solutions are that he teleported away or I crushed him so completely he disintegrated. I think teleportation is the more likely answer. I’m sure he will return again to try and kill me. I must be prepared. If you know how to prevent teleportation contact me. He will not survive again.

Teleporting Spider

For two days now the inspiring crackers out there have been stumped by the AES key on the last two puzzles. So, today’s puzzle is a very specific hint to that key.

Sadly this clue is also encrypted, which makes it something of a triple-Enigma.

GBWON TCVWX ARPOR HV

For all you people Googling frantically wondering why there’s no .Show() method or a direct replacement on ContextMenus in WPF, it’s because someone had too much to drink and replaced it with simply setting the .IsOpen property.

Have a great day.

No one solved the first puzzle yet, so I’m putting up a second one!

The tools and knowledge required to solve this one are the exact same as the previous one. Cracking one will probably solve all others.

Good luck!

Internet, have I ever told you that I actually like the movie version of Grease? I’ve not seen it in about five or six years at this point, but I don’t despise it…which I should.

Now you know another of my deepest darkest secrets, internet. Here’s another:
