My 7 year old (!!, damn, I remember buying that in the middle of the night with Travis…) mini maglite hacked to use an LED bulb just died due to explosive Duracell failure, or as I like to say, Durafail. Turns out the LEDs were so efficient that, yes, I was still on the same set of batteries after four years of at the very least weekly use…to the point that they were providing enough power to keep working as they outgassed. It seems like a lot of stuff from my 2001-early 2003 spree is slowly going. I’ll probably get a new, factory LED replacement for it. Either that or an Innova or something.
